Freshman Writing Workshop – Pandemic Edition

The purpose of the freshman writing course is to explore aspects of the writing process – writing, revising, editing – to achieve the skills for academic writing. The curriculum will cover basic writing skills, grammar, standard writing conventions, and improving sentence structure. In addition, students will focus on key concepts such as how to write a topic sentence and a thesis statement, how to organize details in supporting paragraphs, how to use effective language in formal writing, and basic rules of MLA format. Writing exercises and assignments will help develop and foster learning the fundamental concepts of academic writing. For any questions, email Mrs. DiSilvestre at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dates: Monday, June 29th through Thursday, July 23rd (Monday thru Thursdays only)
Time: 10:05am – 11am daily
Age Group: All rising ninth graders
